This component is complete and can be used. The interfaces will be supported until the function is removed from the project via the deprecation process. There will be ongoing extensions to this function, but it will be done to ensure backward compatibility as far as possible. If there is a need to break backward compatibility, this will be discussed and reviewed in the community, with a documented timeline.
Subject Area API¶
The Subject Area API provides a REST API to support user interfaces (UIs) relating to the definition and organization of subject matter expertise.
Valuable expertise about your organization's data and operations is available across your organization. This expertise will not be there indefinitely as individuals move on to new roles or leave the organization. Subject areas define the topic areas where the gathering of subject matter expertise is needed to enhance the organization's capability.
Key Features¶
The Subject Area API provides operations for defining the subject areas you need to focus on and organizing the resulting knowledge:
- Subject Area Management: Tools for creating, updating, and deleting subject area definitions. These are managed as collections, allowing for flexible organization and metadata enrichment.
- Subject Area Hierarchies: Capabilities for linking subject areas into hierarchies to represent broader and nested topic areas, providing a structured way to navigate subject matter expertise.
