0482 Certifications

Many regulations and industry bodies define certifications that can confirm a level of support, capability or competence in an aspect of a digital organization's operation. Having certifications may be necessary to operating legally or may be a business advantage.

The description of a particular type of certification is described using a CertificationType entity.

The certifications awarded can be captured in the metadata repository to enable both use and management of the certification process.

Certification relationship

An element that meets the requests laid out in a certification type is said to be "certified". This is represented by the Certification relationship. This relationship is a multi-link relationship so multiple certifications, with different conditions, can be defined at one time.

  • certificateId - Unique identifier of the actual certificate.
  • coverageStart - Start date for the certification/license.
  • coverageEnd - End date for the certification/license.
  • conditions - Any special conditions or endorsements over the basic certification/license type.
  • certifiedBy - Person or organization awarding the certification.
  • certifiedByTypeName - Type of element referenced in the certifiedBy property.
  • certifiedByPropertyName - Name of the property from the element used to identify the certifiedBy property.
  • custodian - The person, engine or organization that will ensure the certification/license is honored.
  • custodianTypeName - Type of element referenced in the custodian property.
  • custodianPropertyName - Name of the property from the element used to identify the custodian property.
  • recipient - The person or organization that received the certification.
  • recipientTypeName - Type of element referenced in the recipient property.
  • recipientPropertyName - Name of the property from the element used to identify the recipient property.
  • notes - Notes on why decision were made relating to this element, and other useful information.

RegulationCertificationType relationship

A CertificationType that comes from a regulation can be linked to the element describing the Regulation using the RegulationCertificationType relationship type.
